"We are experts in recognising each other, a persons mood, maybe their background, sometimes we even take a guess at judging their character and personality. Conveying what I see outside and within is my goal and having known these people at different levels over the years made the experience of painting them a very personal and challenging one. These are characters whose apparent hard edge, lived in lives portray a view of Ireland as compelling as the Irish landscape renowned the world over."
